Head Roaster

 

General Summary

A Head Roaster is responsible for all activities from roasting and leading production cuppings to overseeing a production team, and leading customer and community education programs. He/she will be driven to share their talent in the highest form, craft the highest quality coffee and take pride and ownership in what they do.

 

Job Description

  • Schedule roasts to ensure smooth production flow to meet inventory requirements
  • Set-up and monitor each roast, making adjustments to roaster settings as needed to ensure roasting quality standards
  • Sample roasting purchasing samples and landed coffees
  • Educate and train our staff, including developing new education classes
  • Be an active participant within the coffee community
  • Production cupping and espresso quality control
  • Maintaining Daily Roast, Quality Control, and Cupping reports
  • Regular roaster maintenance and cleaning

 

Qualification

  • Prior experience Roasting Coffee in production or retail environment required
  • Minimum 3 (three) years experience working in Specialty Coffee required
  • Passion for cupping, tasting and evaluating your work is a must
  • Experience with and strong desire to increase knowledge of coffee quality and tasting
  • Individual must demonstrate flexibility to meet production and roasting demands
